About the Role:

Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking a motivated and professional Security Officer to join the team at Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital (TRRH). In this role, you will provide a prompt and efficient security service across hospital buildings and grounds, supporting the safety and wellbeing of staff, patients and visitors.
You will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment by monitoring access points, responding to security incidents and emergencies, conducting routine patrols and assisting clinical staff during challenging situations. The role requires strong communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
This position works across a 24/7 rotating roster and may require flexibility to work across multiple Hunter New England Health sites if required.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide professional security services across hospital buildings and grounds
  • Monitor and control access to hospital facilities
  • Conduct routine patrols to identify and respond to safety and security risks
  • Respond to alarms, incidents and emergency situations
  • Assist clinical staff with aggressive or escalating behaviours (Code Black)
  • Operate and monitor security systems including CCTV and alarms
  • Complete incident reports and maintain accurate documentation
  • Liaise with hospital staff, management and emergency services


About You
We are looking for individuals who:

  • Hold a current NSW 1A Security Licence and Current First Aid Certificate
  • Have experience in the security industry, preferably within healthcare or public service environments
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
  • Possess sound conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
  • Are able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Have basic computer skills for incident reporting systems
  • Hold a current NSW Driver Licence and are willing to travel between sites if required
