Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is the largest paediatric health care entity in Australia. We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes — with one purpose in mind — to help young people live their healthiest lives.

What you'll be doing

The Senior Technical Architect is accountable for translating business and clinical requirements into secure, reliable and cost ‑ effective ICT solutions that advance the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN) strategic objectives.

The role designs and documents reference architectures and detailed solution designs; develops technology roadmaps and standards; and provides technical guidance and assurance throughout delivery to ensure solutions align to NSW Health and SCHN enterprise architecture, information security and governance frameworks.

Working as a coordination point across SCHN Digital Health teams, eHealth NSW and external partners, the position
leads the assessment of options, integration with existing services (including infrastructure, storage technologies,
virtualization technologies, authentication and identity management solutions, digital networking, converged
communications, cloud and applications), and the orchestration of implementation to time, cost and quality.

The role proactively identifies risks and dependencies, assures vendor designs, and drives continuous improvement so digital health services are available, device ‑ agnostic, and fit ‑ for ‑ purpose for clinicians, staff and patients.

As part of the Digital Health team, this role supports systems operating 24/7 and may require participation in an on-call support roster to ensure system availability. While not a frontline clinical role, the position may involve out-of-hours support to maintain continuity of essential services.

About You
We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has tertiary qualifications in ICT or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience, with a record of designing and implementing enterprise ICT solutions in a large and complex service environment or a combination of study and work experience.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of infrastructure and platform architecture including virtualisation, storage, identity and access management, networking, cloud and data centre platforms, and integration patterns, with the ability to translate business and clinical requirements into secure, fit for purpose solution designs aligned to enterprise architecture and information security frameworks.
