This opportunity is a Network position for an experienced Paediatric Oncology Pharmacist to undertake a split role:

  1. 0.5FTE/ 19 hours per week as a Clinical Paediatric Oncology Pharmacist reporting the site Director of Pharmacy. This is a Pharmacist Grade 3 role.
  2. 0.5FTE/ 19 hours per week in a Clinical Application Support role, as part of the SCHN eMR Team, reporting to the SCHN eMR Unit Manager, working in a team to maintain and develop the Cerner Oncology application in use at SCHN. This is a HSM3 role graded at the same level as the Pharmacist Grade 3 role

 

This equates to a total of full-time hours with 2 assignments and is offered as a 12-month contract due to the uncertainty of local support for clinical applications with the introduction of the Single Digital Patient Record for SCHN in 2027.

As a Network role the successful candidate will be required to work across both sites but there is flexibility regarding the Network site for the clinical Paediatric Oncology Pharmacist portion of the role



What you'll be doing
 This is a split role between the CHW Pharmacy Department and the SCHN eMR Unit to provide clinical pharmacy services as part of the CHW Oncology Pharmacy team and to provide clinical application support as part of the SCHN eMR Unit as the Oncology Pharmacy clinical subject matter expert. 

The pharmacist must work in a manner consistent with professional 
and NSW Health codes of conduct, practice standards and legislative requirements. The pharmacist must work in a manner compliant and supportive of CHW Pharmacy policies and procedures and SCHN policies, procedures and core values. 

The eMR Unit exists within the Directorate of Clinical Integration within The Sydney Children’s Hospital Network (SCHN). The Unit provides expert knowledge and support to users of clinical applications including Patient Management, Scheduling, Profile PowerChart, Clinical Documentation, FirstNet, SurgiNet, Electronic Medication Management (eMM), Oncology, Anaesthesia and PathNet.   

The Paediatric Oncology Pharmacist - Clinical Application Support role is a key member of the eMR Unit. The position will assist with the progressive integration and development of the Network eMR, focussed on Pharmacy Application solutions relating to Oncology. 

Whilst this role is Monday to Friday, during downtimes or upgrades some afterhours or weekend support may be required which occur several times per year. 

This position is be based at Westmead campus, however there is a requirement to work from the alternate campus at SCH Randwick and other SCHN facilities from time to time.

  1. Registered as a Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia with no restrictions and with suitable experience to meet the NSW Health Employees’ Pharmacists (State) Award criteria of a Pharmacist Grade 3
  2. Hospital pharmacy experience in paediatric oncology with a good working knowledge of the the Cerner electronic medicines management system and the Cerner eMR Oncology application
  3. Detailed knowledge and experience with key Pharmacy processes including their relationship to other patient administration and medical record workflows within the Australian public hospital setting
  4. Demonstrated experience in providing Cerner application support and an understanding of application support methodologies including the development of documentation, policies and procedures, test scripts and scenarios
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to engage effectively with administration, clinical and information management staff and to resolve conflict when required
  6. Demonstrated experience in working with internal and external stakeholders to determine, design, configure, test and implement Pharmacy Application solutions
  7. Demonstrated ability to work as an individual as well as harmoniously within a team, sharing information and responsibilities
