What you'll be doing
The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) provides high quality patient care by efficiently utilising resources to manage the clinical operation of the Department/Unit on a shift by shift basis. This includes patient flow, staffing management and co-ordinating and directing clinical care to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
The NUM, under the direction of the Line Manager is to:
- Ensure the provision of an appropriate and safe standard of clinical care.
- Assume responsibility for providing leadership, direction and co-ordination of patient care.
- Ensure the effective functioning of the nursing team in the co-ordination of each team member providing care.
- Ensure all nursing staff in the ward practice safely, are competent and work within their scope of practice.
- Assist the Nurse Manager to ensure that the ward is managed effectively and within budget allocation
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Demonstrated advanced interpersonal and communication skills including problem solving, balancing competing demands and conflict resolution.
- Has an understanding of the complexities of the paediatric tertiary referral environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the management and delivery of health care services.
