What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of this position is to plan, coordinate, and implement in-depth levels of clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge within occupational therapy to provide evidence based, trauma informed and developmentally appropriate assessment and treatment to children and adolescents (0 to 17 years) within the CICADA Drug and Alcohol Service.
The CICADA Centre NSW offers Care and Intervention for Children and Adolescents affected by Drugs and Alcohol. A lifespan approach, based in a tertiary paediatric hospital, is delivered through three clinical services: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Service, Family Service and Adolescent Drug and Alcohol Service. Quality improvement, research, teaching and education are essential parts of the CICADA service.
The Occupational Therapist will primarily work within the CICADA Adolescent Drug and Alcohol service with adolescents with drug and alcohol use, co-morbid mental health issues and harms associated with substance use.
The Occupational Therapist will with within a multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive assessment, diagnostic and management service for adolescents attending the centre. In addition, the position will support service delivery through capacity building, state-wide leadership and research into the prevention of harm to children and adolescents from drugs and alcohol.
The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for:
•Complete assessment reports.
•Contribute to diagnostic case conference discussions.
•Work with the multidisciplinary team in assessment and management.
•Participate in the Centre’s educational activities of outside services and professionals in NSW.
•Develop educational materials for parents and other health care providers.
•Participate in research activities as appropriate.
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has Current AHPRA registration and qualifications recognised by the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved consumer outcomes.
