Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital is an acute hospital that supports a population of approximately 80,000 and is the only ANZAC Memorial hospital remaining in NSW. Easily accessible to Sydney residents, our team of clinicians, allied health, and support staff works with the community on a shared goal to maintain the delivery of high-quality healthcare in the Blue Mountains region. 

Springwood Hospital was opened in 1976 as a community-based hospital in the Blue Mountains. Springwood community remains very active in supporting and raising funds for the hospital who provides a range of allied health, rehabilitation, aged care and palliative care services. 

 

We’re seeking a proactive and highly organised Roster Clerk to support our Nursing and Wardsperson casual workforce across Blue Mountains and Springwood Hospitals. In this fast-paced role, you will coordinate daily staffing needs, liaise with managers and staff to fill roster gaps, and maintain accurate records in Health Roster (Allocate Optima). You’ll also manage casual staff rosters, assist with recruitment and administrative tasks, and support optimal workforce staffing under the guidance of Nurse Managers.

Key responsibilities include coordinating and filling daily roster deficits, maintaining and updating casual staff rosters, entering and managing shift changes in Health Roster, providing recruitment, clerical, and administrative support, and escalating workforce issues to relevant Nurse Unit Managers or senior nursing leadership.

What you will bring to the role

 

  1. Well developed interpersonal, verbal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate with management and staff at all levels

  2. Ability to work under limited direction, both independently and collaboratively within the team environment. Well developed time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently with set deadlines and a proven ability to work under pressure
  3. Previous experience and capacity to understand and interpret Health Industry Awards and Agreements
  4. Experience with the Health Roster (Allocate Optima) system, or equivalent experience with rostering within a complex organisation/facility
  5. Demonstrated ability to perform a variety of functions which may be complex in nature, and require judgement in selecting and applying established principles, techniques and methods
  6. Excellent knowledge and understanding of staffing requirements and skills for each unit, to provide appropriate roster coverage at short notice due to unplanned leave or roster deficits
  7. Commitment to promoting a positive workplace culture in a challenging and dynamic work environment within a team of diverse personalities and cultures
  8. Demonstrated computer literacy, accuracy and conciseness in documentation
