Rheumatology Research Officer (HSM1) - Prince of Wales Hospital

 
Where you'll be working
 
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

What you'll be doing

The Rheumatology Department is expanding its research footprint with local investigator led and collaborative multi-site projects. This position will support clinician researchers in establishing and managing patient registries, observational and interventional research projects focused on vasculitis and autoinflammatory diseases. The role will also assist in fostering relationships with multi-disciplinary and off-site collaborators.

Selection Criteria:
  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in a science, nursing or health services area and/or relevant equivalent work experience or a combination of study and work experience
  2. Demonstrated knowledge, experience and appreciation of clinical research activities such as clinical trials and patient registries
  3. Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team and prioritise and complete tasks to meet deadlines
  4. Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills to engage with research patients, clinicians, nursing and administrative staff and collaborate with external stakeholders.
  5. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to assist in the preparation of ethics and grant applications and reports
  6. Demonstrated understanding of ethical research principles
  7. Demonstrated experience with NSW Health ethics and governance applications including the use of the NSW Research Ethics and Governance Information System (REGIS) system
