About the role:

This position, based at Nimoola Rehabilitation House in Taree, sits at the head of the Rehabilitation stream. You will be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively to deliver high-quality, recovery-oriented care to consumers. This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver comprehensive clinical, occupational, and rehabilitation assessments and interventions across a community setting, including a residential mental health rehabilitation program, for consumers with complex clinical presentations.

In this role, you will provide client-centred care that enables individuals to achieve functional independence, develop social empowerment, and engage in meaningful occupational activities that enrich their daily lives. You will also be supervising a team of allied health clinicians to provide ideal outcomes for consumers.

Where you’ll be working:

Hunter Valley Lower Mid North Coast Mental Health Service comprises Care Coordination, Rehabilitation, Intake and Acute Care Teams, along with two Mental Health Inpatient Units. As an acute outpatient service, we provide consultation, assessment, treatment, and ongoing follow-up care to adults and their families across the Hunter Valley and Lower Mid North Coast regions.

The Rehabilitation stream helps people reintegrate into community. You will work with the inpatient and community mental health teams to provide support and guidance to consumers, and be supported by consistent interface with the service manager as well as supervision with the designated Head of Discipline.

About you:

We are looking for a passionate Mental Health Professional with a degree in Occupational Therapy, who demonstrates knowledge and experience in contemporary mental health practice, including trauma-informed care and shared care models. You will bring a strong understanding of mental health rehabilitation and its role in supporting recovery for individuals and families.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to build and maintain therapeutic and professional relationships with consumers, carers, and key stakeholders. You’ll have well-developed communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills, along with the capacity to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver optimal outcomes for consumers and their families or carers.
