Make a meaningful impact through specialised nursing care with the Substance Use in Pregnancy and Parenting Service (SUPPS) at James Fletcher Hospital.
Working with pregnant people and parents of children under two, you’ll provide compassionate, evidence-based care that supports wellbeing, promotes harm minimisation and helps families achieve positive outcomes.
As part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you’ll have the opportunity to build your expertise in Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) nursing while contributing to care that can make a lasting difference for parents, babies and families.
About the opportunity
As a Registered Nurse within SUPPS, you will provide comprehensive assessment, care and evidence-based treatment for clients experiencing moderate to severe substance use and complex comorbidities.
You will:
- Complete comprehensive assessments and develop individualised care plans.
- Provide person-centred, trauma-informed and evidence-based care.
- Support clients through a harm minimisation approach.
- Work collaboratively with clients, families and the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide education, consultation and support to other services.
- Use clinical judgement to deliver safe, high-quality care.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse who is passionate about supporting parents, babies and families. You’ll bring:
- Experience in Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) nursing across inpatient and community settings.
- Relevant post-registration qualifications in Drug and Alcohol, Child and Family Health Nursing, or a related field.
- Strong clinical assessment, reasoning and evidence-based practice skills.
- Experience providing education and consultation to other services.
- Knowledge of child protection and mandatory reporting requirements.
- Understanding of trauma-informed and therapeutic care.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
