An exciting opportunity is now open for motivated individuals to join one of the team at one of Australia’s largest and busiest ICUs. The RPA Intensive Care Service (ICS) is a level 6 ICU and provides expert care for critically ill patients requiring the highest level of support and care. These complex supports include ventilation, dialysis, ECMO. The ICS is comprised of 4 units; 1 cardiothoracic, 1 neuroscience and 2 general units.
About the Programme
The Inductory Rotation Programme is a 2-year course run 3 times a year, with intakes usually in March, May and August. It is designed to progress Registered Nurses with no previous ICU experience to becoming competent in caring for the critically ill. Successful candidates will rotate through the 4 units, building the skills, experience and confidence required to care for ICU patients. The programme requires the participants to complete clinical skills assessments, worksheets and attend 6 study days over the course of the 2 years.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of patient centred; evidence informed nursing care that promotes identified health outcomes. The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Ideal Candidate
- Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Has one year acute medical / surgical hospital base nursing experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of evidence informed practice and critical thinking.
- Demonstrated commitment to person centred care and NSW Health Core Values.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills within a multidisciplinary team.
- Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills, and willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues.
- Evidence of computer literacy and understanding of relevant health related information systems.
- Has the ability to work a rotating roster.
