About the Role
The Harm Reduction Program provides a number of services that aim to reduce the transmission of blood borne viruses. This includes the Needle and Syringe Program, which is an evidence based public health program that provides sterile injecting equipment, peer support and healthcare navigation to people who inject drugs. Additionally, the Primary Health Care service offers multidisplinary assessment, treatment and referral for vulnerable people including those who inject drugs.
We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Drug Health Service Harm Reduction Program in a full-time Monday to Friday position. Working within a multidisciplinary team alongside a Needle Syringe Program, the successful applicant will provide comprehensive primary health care to a vulnerable population, delivering holistic health assessments, blood-borne virus screening, venepuncture, immunisation, health promotion, preventative health care, and evidence-based harm reduction interventions. The role focuses on improving health outcomes for a vulnerable population through person-centred care, early intervention, disease prevention, and referral to appropriate health and social support services.

Ideal candidate
- Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Can work a full-time Monday to Friday position
- Understanding of evidence informed practice and critical thinking.
- Effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills within a multidisciplinary team.
- Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills, and willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues.
