Where you’ll be working

Muswellbrook Hospital is looking for committed and innovative Registered Nurses (RN) to join our team. You will start in the General Ward, caring for both medical and surgical patients, with opportunities to expand your skills across Emergency, Perioperative, Renal, and Infusion Unit services depending on your experience and after appropriate training.

Our team values a positive, supportive culture, where collaboration, professional growth, and recognising each other’s achievements are at the heart of everyday work. The hospital provides a strong network of support, including Nurse Unit Managers, Clinical Nurse Educators, and 24/7 onsite Medical Officer coverage.

About the role

This role operates on a flexible, rotating roster and will initially focus on the General Ward. As you gain experience, you may transition to other hospital services:

  • Emergency Department – triage, resuscitation, acute and outpatient areas (minimum Year 2 RN)
  • Perioperative Services – theatre, anaesthetics, PACU, and day surgery
  • Renal Unit – haemodialysis day services
  • Infusion Unit – day unit providing infusions such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and iron

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centred care and ensure safe, effective clinical outcomes. You will be supported by Nurse Unit Managers, Clinical Nurse Educators, and your colleagues across all units, with supernumerary shifts, structured orientation, and access to ongoing professional development and education sessions. This guidance ensures you gain confidence and build expertise across multiple areas while contributing to high-quality care.

About you

You are a compassionate, professional, and patient-focused Registered Nurse, with recent experience in acute care. You will:

  • Have current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • Have recent experience working in an acute care setting
  • Be willing to work across multiple clinical areas and adapt to a rural hospital environment
  • Have Emergency experience and current ALS certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Be non-judgemental, supportive, and able to contribute positively to a collaborative team
  • Show a commitment to providing high-quality holistic care

Previous experience in Perioperative, Renal, or Infusion services is desirable but not essential.
