The Newcastle Pharmacotherapy Services Unit is looking for a Clinical Nurse to join a skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team dedicated to harm minimisation, recovery and connected care.
Based in Hunter Street, Newcastle, you’ll work alongside nurses, doctors, social workers, allied health professionals, peer workers and AOD clinicians to deliver evidence-based, person-centred care. Together, you’ll build trusted relationships, support people through complex health challenges and help create pathways towards improved health, wellbeing and independence.


Make a Difference in AOD Nursing

You’ll provide person-centred AOD care across assessment, treatment and recovery, building trusted relationships and supporting consumers to achieve their health and wellbeing goals.
Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you’ll:

  • Conduct AOD assessments, care planning and case coordination
  • Provide OST, education and harm minimisation support
  • Promote relapse prevention and recovery-focused care
  • Coordinate care across AOD, mental health and primary care services
  • Support consumers experiencing complex needs or challenging behaviours
  • Contribute to clinical education, quality improvement and best practice
     

You’ll play an important role in connecting consumers with the right services, strengthening continuity of care and supporting positive long-term outcomes.

What We’re Looking For

As a Clinical Nurse with the Alcohol and Other Drugs Service, you’ll build therapeutic relationships, support recovery and help consumers navigate complex health and social challenges.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • Strong clinical judgement and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with consumers who may present with challenging behaviours
  • Experience or willingness to develop skills in AOD treatment, harm minimisation and pharmacotherapy
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to person-centred, evidence-based care and ongoing professional development
