Where you’ll be working

You’ll join the Program Therapy Team at the NSW Residential Eating Disorders Centre (REDC), part of baiyangbaiyaang in Charlestown. Opened in 2025, REDC is a 12‑bed, purpose‑built facility providing an innovative, rehabilitation-based model of care for people aged 16 years and over living with an eating disorder. A skilled multidisciplinary team of nurses, allied health and assistants in nursing delivers an intensive program of individual and group interventions 7 days a week, with the service operating 24/7 in a supportive, homelike environment.

About the role

As a Registered Nurse – Program Therapy Team, you’ll work within a specialist multidisciplinary team to enhance the therapeutic milieu and deliver a structured therapy program for residents. You’ll provide specialist care interventions that address both physical and mental health needs, including meal support, monitoring, therapeutic engagement and day‑to‑day nursing care, all within a rehabilitation framework that supports collaborative care goals. Working across a 7‑day rotating roster, you’ll help create a safe, recovery‑focused environment where clients can build skills, confidence and hope.

About you

You’re a Registered Nurse with a strong interest or experience in eating disorders or complex mental health, bringing exceptional interpersonal skills and a flexible, compassionate approach. You believe in the value of nursing in recovery, work respectfully within multidisciplinary teams, and are committed to partnering with clients and families.

You bring:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Experience and competence in eating disorders and/or complex mental health treatment (or strong interest with willingness to learn)
  • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully, demonstrating warmth and compassion
  • Confidence in the nursing role within a multidisciplinary treatment setting, while valuing other professions’ contributions
  • Commitment to partnering with clients and families in care and recovery planning
  • Passion for improving services and outcomes for people with eating disorders

These skills and attributes will help you thrive in this specialist setting, where you’ll be line‑managed by the REDC Service Manager and supported by an onsite Transitional Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Unit Manager and Clinical Nurse Specialists 2, as well as allied health and Assistant in Nursing colleagues. You’ll have access to structured orientation, clinical supervision (including external peer supervision), and ongoing professional development to maintain and grow your practice within this unique rehabilitation-focused service.
