About the Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate Registered Midwife to join our maternity team. As a midwife, you will work in partnership with women to provide holistic, evidence-based care. You will be responsible for supporting women’s choices, promoting health and wellbeing, and delivering safe, high-quality care to both mothers and newborns.

The role offers a permanent midwifery position in the Postnatal/ Antenatal Ward. This provides a dynamic and enriching work environment where you can apply your full scope of midwifery practice while contributing to a supportive, multidisciplinary team committed to excellence in maternity care.

What You'll be Doing
The midwife is a responsible and accountable professional who works in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period, to conduct births on the midwife's own responsibility and to provide care for the newborn and the infant.

Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital is located in the city of Bankstown and is in one of the most multicultural local government areas (LGA) in Australia. This hospital has tertiary affiliations with three universities and offers a range of roles and experiences to employees.

The hospital receives highly diverse presentations in ED as well as having general medical and surgical services and sub-specialty services across the hospital.   1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Midwife with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  2. Demonstrated recent experience as a Registered Midwife in an environment appropriate to the relevant specialty
  3. Demonstrated ability to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive
  4. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, families, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
  5. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
  6. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based midwifery care
  7. Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
