About the Role
You will be working at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH). It is one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history of serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. Our facilities and services are world class and our staff are dedicated, innovative and caring.
This position is responsible for ensuring the safe and optimal use of ionising and non-ionising (laser) radiation in both clinical practice and scientific research at RPAH. The role oversees and monitors the hospital’s radiation protection program, ensuring full compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice governing ionising and non-ionising (laser) radiation use. It also provides expert advice on radiation safety to staff, patients, and the public, and prepares radiation dose estimates to support clinical procedures and research studies.

Ideal Candidate
- Holds a degree in a relevant area of physical science (preferably at MSc level).
- Holds or is eligible to hold a NSW EPA radiation licence.
- Experience in operational radiation protection in medical or health physics.
- Possess a sound knowledge and understanding of the principles associated with the use of ionising and non-ionising (laser) radiation in clinical practice.
- Experience in applying radiation control legislation and relevant codes of safe practice.
