What you'll be doing
The Fellowship will provide the successful applicant with advanced subspecialty skills in Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology within the RPAH Neurology Department. Participation in the RPAH Multiple Sclerosis, central neuroimmunology and neuromuscular clinics constitute the core clinical components of the Fellowship. The Fellow will also be expected to attend the weekly RPAH Neurology clinical meetings, and to present a minimum of 2 patients with neuroimmunological disorders (either outpatients or inpatients) during the Fellowship. While this position will not be directly responsible for inpatient care during working hours, the Fellow will be expected to participate in the on-call roster with other Neurology Advanced trainees/basic trainees. 

The fellow will be expected to actively participate in MS/neuro-inflammatory disease clinical trials involving all stages of MS as an examining physician.  The Fellow will also be expected to participate in an investigator-led research project within the Neurology department. 

They will gain experience in the use clinical outcome measures such as the EDSS, the multiple sclerosis functional composite (MSFC), and MRI-based outcome measures.

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Experience in medical research with previous publications.
  3. Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
  4. Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
  5. Organisational ability, both personal organisation and ability to supervise others.
  6. Initiative in self-directed learning.
  7. Relevant Fellowship qualification or may need to sit for a final exam at the end of training to attain Fellowship.
