Provisional Fellow
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Completion or near completion of the CICM qualification.
- Demonstrated considerable interest and experience in either research, education, simulation or echocardiography.
- Clinical experience required to undertake the key accountabilities for this role including experience in critical care disciplines of anaesthesia, emergency medicine, and/or intensive care.
- Independent competency in:
- Intubation – Airway Management
- Insertion of central lines
- Insertion of PICC lines
- Insertion of Vascath
- Chest Drain Insertion
- Tracheostomy
- Arterial Line Insertion
- Dialysis
- Ventilator management
- Balloon Pump Management
- Advanced Life Support
- This position is subject to an appropriate supervision level which can be supported by the health agency. If the incumbent's registration conditions include supervision requirements, the level of supervision must be able to be supported by the health agency for this role.
- Valid Working with Children Check, cleared National Police Check.
- Demonstrate ability to effective manage staff and resources including: communicate effectively, prioritise tasks, time management skills, delegation where appropriate, adequate medical records and professional behaviour towards patients, relatives and all staff.
- To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.
Selection criteria
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
- Advanced ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services. In addition, demonstrate support for trainee welfare and monitoring.
- Advanced ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
- Advanced ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment.
- Commitment to participating in training and development opportunities to further develop skills and knowledge in the area of intensive care medicine.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Demonstrated considerable interest and experience in either research, education, simulation or echocardiography.
