About the Opportunity
Are you passionate about using your lived experience to support others on their mental health recovery journey? Fairfield Community Mental Health Service is seeking a Peer Support Worker to play a vital role in helping individuals transition from an acute inpatient unit back into the community.
As a Peer Support Worker, you will:
- Provide compassionate, recovery-oriented peer support to individuals navigating the mental health system.
- Assist consumers in accessing external services and resources to support their journey.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to promote person-centered, consumer-driven care.
- Offer insights and consultation to clinical staff, ensuring recovery-focused practices.
- Contribute to administrative tasks that support service delivery.

What you'll be doing
Provide recovery orientated, evidence based peer support interventions to mental health consumers within a multidisciplinary team framework. This position also supports clinical staff in the provision of recovery orientated and consumer driven clinical practice by providing consultation in relation to the experience of living with a mental health disorder. The Peer Worker is also responsible for undertaking designated administrative tasks necessary to support service delivery.

- To be considered as a Graduate: Recognised Degree or other qualification deemed appropriate by the employer. For further Graduate or Non-Graduate determination: Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or willingness to complete.
- Can you describe how your lived experience with a mental health condition has shaped your understanding of consumer-led recovery principles? How do you incorporate these principles into your work with individuals and groups?
- Provide an example of how you have worked independently and within a multidisciplinary team to plan, deliver, and evaluate interventions. How did you apply quality improvement frameworks, evidence-based practice, and your communication and computer skills in this process?
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
