Coordinating care, supporting teams, and leading  palliative care across MLHD.
 

The Murrumbidgee Local Health Service(MLHD) Specialist Palliative Care Service is a community-based service proudly led by experienced nurses, and allied health team. The service provides comprehensive end of life and palliative care to patients with an advanced and life limiting illness, and in-reach consultation to MLHD Health Services and Residential Aged Care facilities.

 

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Palliative Care Stream Manager (Nurse Manager Grade 3) to lead palliative care services across Murrumbidgee Local Health District. You will provide strategic and operational leadership, managing nursing, allied health, and support teams to deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred care.
This role will drive clinical excellence, workforce development, and service innovation, supporting a coordinated, district-wide palliative care program. You will foster a culture where patients, families, and staff feel valued, respected, and supported, while achieving safe, quality care outcomes.

Our Ideal Candidate Will:
 

  • Have current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and experience aligned with Nurse Manager Grade 3 (Appendix 1, Core Knowledge and Skills, Public Health System Nurses’ and Midwives’ State Award 2015 / 2018)
  • Demonstrate senior leadership and management experience, with qualifications in health management, health policy and planning, business, or equivalent (or working towards)
  • Exhibit high-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise, negotiate, and manage conflict with clinicians, managers, staff, and key stakeholders
  • Demonstrate strong computer literacy, including experience with health workforce, performance, and analytics systems
  • Provide evidence of successful financial and service delivery management, including developing efficiency strategies and achieving organisational goals
  • Show advanced leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and manage staff to achieve service and organisational goals using recognised change management principles
  • Demonstrate understanding of accreditation processes, quality improvement, and safety initiatives
  • Have experience managing complex services with competing demands for access, throughput, and resources
  • Provide evidence of a current Class C Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel across MLHD
