About the Role
You will be working in a community district position based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH). The senior Occupational Therapist (OT) plays a critical role within the Stroke Outreach Service (SOS) multidisciplinary team (MDT). Our MDT includes specialised Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Work and Speech Pathologists dedicated to goal-oriented stroke rehabilitation. Therapy continues for as long as realistic rehabilitation goals can be pursued. We accept referrals for all suburbs within the Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) catchment, including the RPA, Concord, Canterbury, and Balmain areas.
The primary purpose of the role is to provide senior OT clinical leadership within the SOS. This includes the management of district waitlist and referrals, provision of high-quality evidence based neurological occupational therapy treatments within the community or home setting to maximise independence, safety, and community reintegration, as well as supporting the mentoring and development of staff.
Because the SLHD Stroke Outreach Service is highly autonomous and delivered directly in client homes, the successful clinician needs a specific blend of acute stroke knowledge and practical community problem-solving skills.

Ideal Candidate
- Holds a bachelor or post graduate degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy and current registration with AHPRA, with experience at Level 2 or higher.
- Strong postgraduate clinical experience in complex stroke management, neurological rehabilitation involving upper limb retraining and cognitive-perceptual interventions alongside a background in community-based or home-based service delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and evaluate quality improvement initiatives and/or research focused on patient/client outcomes.
- Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including collaborative stakeholder consultation
- Holds a current NSW driver licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
