Armidale Community Health Service

Armidale Community Health Service is seeking an experienced and motivated Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to lead the delivery of aged care services across Armidale, Walcha, and Guyra. This newly established leadership role presents an exciting opportunity to shape service delivery, support multidisciplinary teams, and make a meaningful impact on the health and wellbeing of older people within the community.

As the NUM, you will provide operational and clinical leadership to a diverse team comprising Community Nurses, Wound Care Nurses, and the Transitional Aged Care Program (TACP) team. You will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day service delivery, supporting staff development, and ensuring the provision of high-quality, person-centred care across the region.

This role offers the opportunity to join a well-established and highly collaborative team known for its supportive, inclusive, and positive culture. You will be supported by a dedicated Health Service Manager and benefit from strong partnerships with the Tamworth TACP team, as well as specialist clinical guidance from an Aged Care Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC).



About the Role

In this leadership position, you will:

  • Lead and support Community Nursing, Wound Care, and TACP teams across multiple sites.
  • Coordinate and oversee aged care service delivery throughout Armidale, Walcha, and Guyra.
  • Manage day-to-day operations within a dynamic community health environment.
  • Foster a collaborative multidisciplinary approach to care planning and service delivery.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives and ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred care.
  • Support workforce development, staff engagement, and team performance.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Strong leadership and management capabilities, with experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working within a community health setting (highly desirable).
  • Experience in a management role or the readiness and capability to transition into a leadership position.
  • A collaborative, adaptable, and solutions-focused approach to service delivery and team leadership.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality care and achieving positive outcomes for older people and their families.

Essential Criteria 

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia 
  • Relevant management tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience with a demonstrated commitment to professional development
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the management and delivery of health care services and leading teams
