The Role
The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘Exceptional Care, Healthier Lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well and providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.
To support all nursing staff in maintaining and promoting safety and high standards in nursing practice. This will be achieved through the facilitation of evidence-based learning, clinical teaching, and assessment of competencies. The role is responsible for the clinical supervision of all new and transitioning nurses, in particular, the programs for 1st Year Transitioning Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and School Based Traineeships. It also encompasses the review and development of evidenced-based policy/business rules, and the associated education required.
The role is responsible for leading the development, implementation and maintaining the ongoing delivery of a general nursing and new graduate nurse specific orientation programs that are responsive to the needs of new staff commencing at SSEH. This role is also responsible for leading or assisting in the development and review and on-going delivery of locally conducted professional development programs. Additionally, this role collaborates with SESLHD Nursing and Midwifery Workforce Development Team to develop, implement, and deliver education and training programs and workshops in response to the training needs of the staff across the Local Health District.
Through the coordination and liaison with the Local Health District and external education providers, the role ensures legislated requirements governing clinical placements is maintained and equity of access for nursing student clinical placements and optimal learning opportunities are provided.
In addition, the position participates in and provides training and support to nursing staff involved in quality improvement initiatives and projects.

Sydney Hospital is Australia's first hospital and dates from the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788.
The Hospital is in the heart of the Central Business District in Sydney within easy walking distance to public transport. For staff who drive to work subsidised parking is available on site.
Selection Criteria
- Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and a wiliness to travel.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical nursing, effective leadership and management, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Extensive experience in clinical supervision and development of practice utilising the ANMC Standards of Practice.
- Demonstrated educational experience to support program development, implementation and evaluation of clinical training, orientation and programs.
- Sound organisational skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines whilst dealing with competing demands.
- Demonstrated highly developed skills in communication, facilitation, problem-solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
- High level oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to engage, liaise, consult and negotiate in a collaborative way with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong computer literacy skills in all aspects of MS Office and Corporate Systems including data management.
