An exciting opportunity is available for a motivated Nurse Manager Grade 5 (NMG5) to join the Surgery Directorate at Nepean Hospital in a Permanent Full time role.
As a key member of the Nursing Leadership team, you will provide Strategic and Operational leadership across Surgical services, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to drive clinical excellence, workforce development, service innovation, and continuous quality improvement. Overall, the role is to manage and lead the team, provide effective service delivery which encompasses business planning, financial, human resources and financial accountabilities for the service.
The role is also accountable for promoting, facilitating and providing clinical governance to enhance best care outcomes for patients and, to ensure safe Nursing practice standards are maintained. This includes leading evidence based professional practice, ensuring management of staffing resources matches demand and, the oversight of capacity and variance management planning.

Reporting to the Director of Nursing/Midwifery, the Nurse Manager Grade 5 is responsible for providing professional and operational leadership across the Surgery Directorate, leading and supporting Nurse Unit Managers and Nursing teams to achieve excellence in patient care. You will build strong partnerships with Medical, Allied Health, and Operational Leaders to optimise patient outcomes whilst fostering a positive workplace culture that promotes engagement, collaboration, and continuous learning.

What you will bring to the role:
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
- Demonstrated Nursing knowledge and skills that support excellence in health outcomes and provision of safe care
- Experience in leading quality improvement within a tertiary level hospital including development of Nursing models of care
- Broad recent Clinical and Operational management experience at a senior level within a complex health care environment including strategic planning and the development of operation plans
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate, inspire and organise staff to achieve organisational, division and professional outcomes
- Computer literacy, ability to trend and interpret data and competent information seeking skills
- Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills and ability to liaise and negotiate with clinicians, managers, staff and other key stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary management team
