An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated nursing leader to undertake the role of Surgical Stream Nurse Manager at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. This role provides the opportunity to lead and shape the delivery of nursing services across the Surgical Stream, driving service improvement, workforce planning, and clinical excellence in a complex and dynamic environment. The position plays a key role in supporting high-quality patient care while fostering a culture aligned with the CORE values of NSW Health. Working in partnership with the office of the Director of Nursing and Clinical Stream Director, the Nurse Manager will contribute to the strategic and operational direction of surgical services, while providing leadership, oversight, and support to nursing teams across the portfolio. The role is responsible for ensuring effective staffing models, monitoring performance and key indicators, and supporting ongoing service development and improvement. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, the ability to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, and a commitment to delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care.

- Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Relevant postgraduate tertiary qualifications (or evidence of working towards the same) and nursing leadership and management experience
- Demonstrated ability to develop, direct and lead a team to achieve organisational objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively as part of a senior management team and to collaborate with other health professionals and disciplines in the management of health care services
- Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines in an environment of high volume/ pressure
- Demonstrated high level communication and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated experience in change management, negotiating competing interests and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage resources effectively within designated timeframes and budgets.
