Where you'll be working
The Education Practice and Capability Service at The Sutherland Hospital is a dynamic team that contributes to the organisation’s strategic priorities, including fostering a culture of learning and inquiry and development of effective and safe workplace cultures.  The team are responsible for building the organisation’s capability to be responsive to changes in the health service and the provision of high quality, safe, person-centred care. Our purpose is to “Enable and empower the provision of person centred compassionate care, which is achieved through development and learning for staff across the Sutherland Hospital and Community Service”

The team have responsibility for the GradStart program, orientation program, undergraduate program, coaching and facilitation development, clinical teaching, professional development, workshops and mandatory training.

All Registered Nurses/Midwives must comply and act in accordance with recognised professional and organisational standards established by:Ministry of Health, The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District and its facilities. All Registered Nurses/Midwives must adhere to all MOH, SESLHD and local policies and business rules related to the safe handling and administration of medications. 
Clinical supervision at the point of care is the role of and responsibility of each Registered Nurse/Midwife and Enrolled Nurse within everyday clinical practice, in line with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council decision making framework for nurses and midwives. 

All staff are expected to take reasonable care that their actions do not adversely affect the health and safety of others, that they comply with any reasonable instruction that is given them and with any reasonable policies/procedures relating to health or safety in the workplace, as well as notifying any hazards/risks or incidents to their managers. 
The Nurse/Midwife Educator is a registered nurse/midwife who has responsibility for providing nursing/midwifery education, training and professional development in a range of contexts and environments in the health sector.  

The Nurse/Midwife Educator is responsible for the efficient and effective provision and evaluation of education, training and professional development for the new and existing staff. It is intended that nurses and midwives will practice within their professional nursing and/or midwifery roles. 

Nurse/Midwife Educator Grade 2 is the grade used for Registered Nurses/Midwives holding post registration nursing/midwifery clinical or education qualifications relevant to the clinical area in which he/she is appointed, or qualifications deemed equivalent by the employer;and who is appointed to a position of Nurse Educator/Midwife Educator Grade 2. 

The Nurse/Midwife Educator Grade 2 shall be responsible for one of the following: 
A nursing/midwifery education portfolio or program across a public hospital or affiliated health organisation (including but not limited to a transition program, enrolled nurse or registered nurse program); 
A nursing/midwifery program for a clinical division or divisions across a public hospital or affiliated health organisation, or; 
A nursing/midwifery program for a community based health service such as community health or mental health services 

Selection Criteria:
1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
2. Recent experience in the development of practice
3. Holding post registration clinical or education qualification relevant to the position
4. Demonstrated effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation
5. Demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate education and training programs
6. Demonstrated understanding of contemporary adult learning principles
7. Computer literacy and understanding of relevant information systems
