Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine , Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 3 months may be considered

- Sound clinical knowledge in Pain Medicine demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including high level patient centered clinical assessment, management and education to patients with complex chronic pain conditions, carers and families whilst working collaboratively with members of other disciplines to ensure the most appropriate patient care.
- Demonstrated clinical, diagnostic and technical skills commensurate with functioning as an independent Pain Medicine Consultant including current competence and experience in managing patients in multidisciplinary cognitive behavioural based pain management programmes, both as a group and/or individually, including medication tapering.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrated participation in and commitment to undergraduate, postgraduate, interdisciplinary teaching and education, including research, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Preparedness to participate in any on-call service, including on-call rosters already existing or established.
