Position Classification: Staff Specialist
Employment Type: Temporary Part Time
Hours Per Week: up to 20
Duration: until 24 April 2025


Purpose of the Position
To provide a clinical management and consultation service to patients with conditions applicable to the sub-specialty of Aged Care Medicine and/or Rehabilitation Medicine and participate in an appropriate on-call roster for Mona Vale Hospital.
To assess patients in other health facilities for their suitability for Rehabilitation at Mona Vale Hospital as required. Education, supervision and support to junior medical staff. 
Ongoing quality assurance activities at the Departmental, Divisional and District levels and additionally as directed by the Director of Medical Services and Director of Clinical Governance. 

This position is temporary with the possibility of temporary extension based on performance, funding and need

Selection Criteria

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants expecting to be awarded their fellowship within 3 months may be considered.
  2. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  3. Appropriate experience to practice as a senior medical practitioner in Geriatric or Rehabilitation Medicine.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of the aims of a Rehabilitation service and how to successfully achieve these.
  5. Demonstrated excellence in Interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal).
  6. Demonstrated ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  7. Demonstrated interest in quality improvement methodologies.
  8. A valid Driver's licence.
