Duration: up to 12 months from commencement in February 2026
Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship prior to or within 3 months after the advertised contract commencement date will be considered. For applicants without Fellowship there is potential to commence as Provisional Fellow under the Public Hospital Medical Officers Award (Registrar 4thyear) and on successful attainment of Fellowship transition to a Post Graduate Fellow.
About the Role
RNSH is one of two foundation INR unit in Australia, being part of the Initial federal funding grant in 1992. In 2004 RNSH was funded through the state government as one of two INR centres in NSW, which included the formalisation of this fellowship position. In 2008 a dedicated INR theatre was opened at Westmead Hospital. This unit operates equally across RNSH and Westmead campuses.
There is a long history of research and publications arising from this unit. The successful applicant is expected to produce at least one peer review publication per year.
We are proud of our innovations; including the first stent assisted coiling in the world, and the first mechanical thrombectomy for large vessel occlusive stroke in Australia (and we are told second in the world).
Purpose of the Position
The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within NSLHD.

Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the RANZCR and/or RACS with subspecialty in Neurosurgery and/or RACP with subspecialty in Neurology or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 3 months may be considered.

- Sound clinical knowledge in Clinical Radiology and/or Neurosurgery and/or Neurology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
- Demonstrated clinical, diagnostic and technical skills commensurate with functioning as post graduate fellow in Interventional Neuroradiology
- High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrated participation in and commitment to undergraduate, postgraduate, interdisciplinary teaching and education, including research, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Preparedness to participate in any on-call service (under supervision), including on-call rosters already existing or established.
- Demonstrated familiarity with assessment of suitable patients and indications for endovascular treatments. Procedural experience, including experience in Neurointerventional procedures is highly regarded
