Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical/dental practitioners for three part-time Staff Specialists in Interventional Cardiology, Medicine positions in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be primarily located at Nepean Hospital within the Department of Cardiology.
Successful applicants will play a vital role in ensuring safe, timely, and high-quality care for patients requiring complex cardiac procedures, while also providing leadership, supervision, and education to junior doctors and clinical staff. The role ensures continuity of specialist services at Nepean Hospital and supports a culture of collaboration and clinical excellence.
The number of sessions will be on the Cardiology 24-hour on-call roster, which includes a general take 1 in 12 and an Interventional call 1 in 7. Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.
Part-time positions will be considered.

Selection Criteria
- Possess or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP) or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997 and the Staff Specialists (NSW) Award. Evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
- Sound clinical knowledge in Interventional Cardiology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position, including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
- High-level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.
- Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner, including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
- Sound clinical knowledge in the subspecialty of Interventional Cardiology demonstrated by relevant qualifications and/or appropriate post-Fellowship clinical experience.
- A PhD is preferred but not essential, with demonstrated familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied, or clinical research as required within the Department.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997, and Staff Specialists (State) Award
