What you'll be doing
The Midwifery Patient Safety Clinical Lead drives safety and quality across WSLHD's Women’s Health Network, strengthening clinical governance and improving systems to support operational excellence.
In this role you will:
- Collaborate with network and safety teams
- Analyse event and clinical data for improvements
- Ensure policies align with best practices
- Support audits and performance reviews

Essential Criteria:
- Registration: Midwife - Registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Midwife.
Selection Criteria:
- Extensive clinical and management experience in the maternity environment or possess post graduate qualifications at masters level in specialisation or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in quality, safety and clinical risk management within a complex/acute maternity environment, including the application and evaluation of patient safety programs, clinical risk identification, and improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of clinical systems and health services, including understanding of human and other factors impacting on patient safety.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication, negotiation, influencing and motivational skills that support personal capacity to build and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with a range of multidisciplinary stakeholders including senior managers and clinical staff.
- High level verbal and written communication skills including the ability to analyse and synthesise data and use it to drive improvement through the production of briefs, presentations, business plans and reports.
- Well-developed organisational and project management skills including the capacity to successfully complete several tasks concurrently and achieve set deadlines.
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, mentoring and training skills to support a range of change management initiatives.
- Evidence of a current class C driver's licence and ability and willingness to travel for work purposes.
