What you'll be doing
As the Manager Executive Support Unit, you will lead a specialised team delivering high-level correspondence, ministerial briefs and strategic advisory services for the Chief Executive. You will oversee quality assurance, stakeholder engagement and emerging issue identification to ensure the District’s communications are accurate, timely and aligned with strategic priorities.

  • Lead and quality-assure complex briefings, reports and correspondence for executive and ministerial audiences

  • Provide expert advice on ministerials, parliamentary items and strategic communications

  • Oversee escalation, resolution and finalisation of urgent or overdue matters

  • Identify emerging trends or risks from incoming requests and escalate appropriately

  • Build capability District-wide through mentoring, training and governance of quality systems

How to Apply

  1. Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive relevant experience in a management role in an executive support unit or similar environment.

  2. Highly developed written communication skills, including an ability to independently prepare and edit a wide range of documents (written communication) and to interact effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

  3. Knowledge of and experience in preparing responses for signature in matters concerning parliamentary items, briefings, house notes, ministerials, visit/function briefs, complaints and general correspondence from various stakeholders.

  4. Proven team leadership and management skills with the demonstrated ability to manage a team including development of staff workplans, setting team priorities, training, developing and motivating the team.

  5. Demonstrated skill in the analysis of complex issues, problem solving, formulating new approaches and implementing comprehensive change programs and improvement strategies, including the ability to develop and monitor outcomes.

  6. Demonstrated ability to work within extremely short timeframes on sensitive and complex matters.

  7. Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, legislation, standards, policies, procedures, and government processes relevant to WSLHD and recommend courses of action.
