What You'll Be Doing:
SESLHD Drug and Alcohol (D&A) Service offers a range of treatment and support services for people with problems from their alcohol, prescription or illicit drug use, and/or their families and carers. Outpatient D&A services are located in clinics at the Langton Centre in Surry Hills, St George Hospital in Kogarah, and Caringbah Community Health Centre at Sutherland Hospital. Inpatient D&A services are provided at Sydney Hospital, Prince of Wales, St George and Sutherland Hospitals.
The position oversees SESLHD D&A research and evaluation activities and resources, under the supervision of the Director D&A. This involves: membership role in the Drug and Alcohol Clinical Research Investigators Network (DACRIN); staff management of single and multi-site research studies; developing and supporting translational research and evaluation frameworks and projects that promote evidence based practice; continued growth of the performance and cohesion of the research agenda in SESLHD D&A; overseeing co-ordination of the ethical-legal challenges of setting up research studies; promoting the SESLHD D&A translational research and evaluation activities at a state, national and international level.

Selection Criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in health or social sciences related to Drug & Alcohol research, or relevant equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience.
- Demonstrated experience as a senior researcher on large, multi-site studies.
- Experience working within health service settings including working with marginalised groups who are hard to reach, and may present with complex and challenging behaviours.
- Demonstrated high level skills in data analysis, performance reporting, academic writing, funding applications and project management as evidenced by a strong publication and funding track record.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise and meet deadlines within specified timeframes.
- Demonstrated understanding of legal and ethical research requirements, with demonstrated experience in the management of clinical trials and research projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to facilitate, negotiate and resolve conflicts to advance clinical research, build effective partnerships across sectors, and manage and co-ordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in a range of computer application systems including Microsoft Office, spreadsheets and databases and electronic data capture systems.
