The Internal Audit Unit is committed to delivering high quality, client-focused and professional services that support the organisation in the delivery of its core function, which is the provision of high quality, safe and efficient health services that are responsive to the needs of patients, carers and the community. The role of the Internal Audit Unit is to provide independent, objective assurance and consulting activities designed to add value and improve the local health district’s operations. In line with Global Internal Audit Standards, the internal audit plan considers all major auditable areas of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) and is based on an assessment of its strategic goals and risks. Internal Audit assists ISLHD to accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of its risk management, internal control and governance processes. As part of the ISLHD Internal Audit Unit (IAU) this position will assist in providing the organisation with a comprehensive internal audit function.  This will include providing the ISLHD Board, Chief Executive, Audit and Risk Committee and District officers with independent and objective advice in relation to internal control, risk and governance matters.
