About the Role

Integrated Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Aboriginal District Coordinator reports to the Director Integrated Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs (IMHAOD). The position is responsible for: - Coordinating a range of District initiatives to improve outcomes for Aboriginal people and staff within IMHAOD. - Provision of high-level leadership and advice on implementing Aboriginal Health strategic Directions; state and Local within IMHAOD directorate i.e Aboriginal Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy, MNCLHD Aboriginal Health Strategic Framework 2024-2034, NSW Aboriginal Health Plan, NSW Aboriginal Health Transformation Agenda. - Coordinating the development of IMHAOD Services for Aboriginal people including the development of an Aboriginal Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol workforce across the Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD). - Driving excellence in governance and deliver key strategic, operational and business objectives for MNCLHD IMHAOD Directorate. This will encompass, incorporating new service initiatives relevant to the portfolio into IMHAOD service provision for Aboriginal people and their communities, including those stemming from specific projects in areas related to State and National policy initiatives. - Supporting and monitoring the development of collaborative relationships between IMHAOD, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and other relevant organisations. This position will also represent MNCLHD on State and National expert panels and working groups in relation to matters relevant to Aboriginal Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs in the MNCLHD.

About You

Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identify as being Aboriginal and be accepted in the community as such. All applicants must supply either a letter of Aboriginality signed under the common seal from a recognised incorporated Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community organisation such as Land Council or Elders group, Aboriginal Medical Service or a letter on letterhead from a Local Aboriginal Land Council demonstrating membership of the Council. Exemption is claimed under Section 14D of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

You will need relevant tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or extensive relevant experience in a large and diverse service industry organisation, or combination of study and work experience along with demonstrated high level understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture along with a sound knowledge of the issues affecting the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people with mental health and substance use issues in the Mid North Coast.
