We are seeking a committed Patient Support Officer to join our small rural Multi Purpose Service (MPS), working alongside a dedicated team of health professionals who provide care and support to older people and those receiving palliative care.

 

About the Team

Our MPS provides care to older people and people requiring palliative care, working closely with residents, their families and carers.

About the Role

As a Patient Support Officer, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality care and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for residents, patients, families and staff.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the lifting and moving of patients and providing support with personal care and hygiene to ensure a high standard of patient care.
  • Undertaking cleaning duties in accordance with commercial cleaning practices, NSW Health policies and procedures, including terminal cleaning.
  • Removing and managing soiled linen to support infection prevention and control standards.
  • Maintaining cleaning equipment and stores to ensure equipment and supplies are available and ready for use.
  • Checking and replacing ward oxygen cylinders to support the availability of safe and appropriate equipment.
  • Performing portering and patient support duties, including assisting with patient transfers.
  • Collecting pharmacy requirements and delivering cytotoxic waste in accordance with relevant procedures.
  • Supporting the wider team to maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment.
  • Undertaking other duties as required to support the effective operation of the service.


The position reports directly to the Health Service Manager (HSM).

 

About You

We are looking for someone who is friendly, respectful, reliable and genuinely committed to providing excellent care and support to older people and their families.

  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a range of tasks.

  • A positive attitude and willingness to support colleagues and contribute to the wider service.


Previous experience in aged care or a similar healthcare environment will be highly regarded.

  • Eligible to Drive in NSW and willingness to travel for work purposes

 

Support and Development
