About the role
We are building an Aboriginal Workforce leadership team that will set the direction for the Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) and drive transformational change. The Manager Aboriginal Workforce Strategy is a key leadership position responsible for strengthening and enhancing our Aboriginal workforce and improving cultural safety across all services.
This role leads the Aboriginal Workforce Unit and is accountable for delivering measurable outcomes aligned to NSW Health and WNSWLHD strategies, plans and KPIs. You will:
· Lead, implement, monitor and evaluate District-wide Aboriginal workforce strategies, procedures and initiatives to enhance recruitment, engagement, development, retention and career progression across clinical and corporate streams.
· Develop innovative, data driven approaches to address workforce challenges.
· Provide expert advice and leadership to managers, leading strategies that build cultural competence and respect for Aboriginal people across the organisation, supporting culturally safe working and care environments.
· Partner directly with Aboriginal staff, communities and organisations to co-design initiatives that are culturally safe and effective.
· Provide leadership, guidance and development to direct reports.
Who we’re looking for
You will bring:
· Strong community connection and the ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal people from a range of Nations and communities.
· Experience leading Aboriginal workforce initiatives, strategies or programs in a complex organisation.
· Confidence influencing, advising and partnering with senior leaders and external stakeholders.
· High-level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to advocate, persuade and demonstrated experience leading teams through cultural change.
