Bowral & District Hospital is seeking Health and Security Assistants (HASA) to join a dedicated team working collaboratively to support the safe, respectful, and effective management of patients. In this casual role, you will help maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting clinical teams with patient care, comfort, and dignity across the hospital.
- Support clinical staff with patient care activities while maintaining safety, dignity, and respect
- Contribute to a safe and secure hospital environment for staff, patients, and visitors
- Assist in protecting South Western Sydney Local Health District assets
- Support day‑to‑day hospital operations in a professional and respectful manner
- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare and security team
Are You the Right Fit?
We’re looking for reliable and professional individuals who can operate confidently within a healthcare security environment. Security Master License Number for South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) is 410572116
- Hold a current NSW Class 1A Security Licence, current First Aid Certificate, and a valid Australian C‑Class driver’s licence (including P1 or P2; learner licences not accepted)
- Willingness to work a 7‑day rotating roster including mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends, and public and school holidays, and to work within a morgue environment
- Demonstrated computer literacy at a data‑entry level
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to engage appropriately with staff, patients, and members of the public
- Strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and working within NSW Health policies and procedures
Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.
- Must hold a current Class 1A Security License with the NSW Security Industry 1997 Class 1A, Current First Aid Certificate and must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
- Participation in a 7 day rotating roster that includes weekends, public and school holidays, including morning, afternoon and night shifts.
- Demonstrated understanding and ability to comply with work health and safety principles, including safe manual handling and infection control.
Sound understanding of the application of security techniques including conflict resolution skills, de-escalation and restraint practices.
