About the Role
This position supports evidence-based care for treating and managing mental illness and psychological conditions in forensic patients at the Burudyara Forensic Unit, aligned with effective, guideline-consistent practices in the Australian context.
It provides psychological assessment, diagnosis, case formulation, and treatment of psychopathology in cognitive, emotional, motivational, personality, and behavioural areas. Patients are seen individually or in groups. The Clinical Psychologist evaluates outcomes, contributes to education and training, supervises provisional psychologists when appropriate, and works within a multidisciplinary team.

Ideal Candidate
- Must hold a post graduate degree in clinical or forensic psychology (Masters, and/or Doctorate or PhD) with APHRA registration that provides eligibility for full membership of the APS or appropriate professional associations.
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge, skill and clinical experience in the provision of clinical/forensic psychology interventions. Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the use of therapies such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Insight Oriented Psychotherapy. Demonstrated skills in working with families.
- Experience and demonstrated ability in building and maintaining professional and therapeutic relationships through the application of written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
