Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above positions (part time or full time) in the Western Sydney Local Health District. The positions will be located at Westmead within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
This appointment is for a Fixed Term period of 12 months. The aim of the position is to provide obstetrics and gynaecology services at Westmead Hospital and specifically to reduce the Westmead gynaecology waitlist. The successful applicant will not be able to add to hospital waitlist. Privileges may be extended to Auburn Hospital as required.
The successful applicants will hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (RANZCOG) or equivalent. The successful applicants will have broad experience across obstetrics and gynaecology at a tertiary centre, above average clinical skills and judgement, and superior interpersonal skills.
Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship 3 within months of the planned commencement date for the positions may be considered. If successful, the applicant may not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.
Selection Criteria
§ Must possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.
§ Sound clinical knowledge in Obstetrics and Gynaecology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position. This includes the care of women from many cultures and backgrounds, management of multiple complex cases simultaneously; and at least laparoscopy gynaecology Level 4 surgical skills (as per RANZCOG definition).
§ Maintaining and developing knowledge, skills and professional performance to the level required for contemporary practice.
§ Excellent organisational, supervision and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to build respectful relationships with the multidisciplinary health care team, with patients and colleagues.
§ Demonstrated aptitude for clinical leadership which is evidenced by

· Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and translation of research into practice to improve patient safety and quality.
· Willingness to be involved in the research output of the department including providing assistance to other staff in their research endeavours and must be prepared to make a contribution to the education of registrars, residents and midwives/ nurses.
