As a Financial Accountant, you will support the financial management of Liverpool Hospital through accurate month‑end processes, strong oversight of key financial functions, and effective partnership with a range of stakeholders. You’ll work across a wide range of portfolios—including Restricted Financial Assets, RPP, VMO, AP/AR, banking and fixed assets.

You will be joining a supportive and collaborative finance team committed to continuous improvement and aligned with the District’s Transforming Your Experience approach.

  • Contribute to the financial stewardship of Liverpool Hospital and South Western Sydney Local Health District, helping ensure resources are managed responsibly to support high quality patient care. 
  • Lead and support a dedicated financial accounting team that manages key functions such as accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, banking, and restricted financial assets, fostering a collaborative and supportive workplace. 
  • Develop and implement improvements in financial processes, reporting, and governance, allowing you to make a meaningful impact on how the hospital delivers safe and high quality services. 
  • Work closely with hospital departments and district finance teams, building strong relationships and providing guidance that helps teams make informed financial decisions.

  • Experience working with, and/or understanding of Restricted Financial Assets 
     
 

Selection Criteria 

To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below. 

  1. Tertiary qualifications in Finance or Accounting and/or significant work experience in a similar area. Finance related studies (Accounting or Business), preferably completed or nearing completion for CPA or CA.
  2. Describe your experience managing or supervising end-of-month financial processes in a complex organisation (Health or similar). How have you ensured accuracy, compliance with policy, and delivery within tight deadlines across multiple portfolios or teams? 
  3. Please describe your experience leading and developing finance teams. In your response, outline specific actions you have taken to create a positive, supportive and high‑performing team culture, and explain how these approaches contributed to improved outcomes for your team or organisation.
