About this role

We are seeking an experienced Finance Analyst (CPA / CA qualified) to assist with a range of financial and accounting activities within an Oracle R12 and Fusion environment, including preparation of annual financial statements in line with accepted Accounting Standards, taxation, statutory compliance and various other financial accounting activities.


This role is a part of the Financial Control team, which is responsible for ensuring the delivery of accurate financial statements and to provide high quality and accurate information to auditors to meet the statutory requirements. A crucial part of the Finance Analyst role involves assisting with compliance on financial controls, preparation of annual financial statements, compliance with tax legislation, co-ordination and reconciliation of intra-health transactions under the guidance of the Principal Finance Analyst.


Crown Clerk 7/8, starting salary from $106,025 - $117,363 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week.

What you'll be doing

The Financial Control team is a part of the larger Financial Services and Asset Management Division. The team facilitates and supports the Ministry of Health (Parent Entity) in areas of budget reporting, systems, and financial control. In the Financial Control team, you will be working closely with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure preparation and finalisation of annual financial statements meeting numerous competing deadlines.

As the Finance Analyst, you will:

  • Ensure compliance with financial control and reporting requirements by analysing complex financial information to support effective decision making
  • Assist in preparation of annual financial statements and other financial reports for external auditors and stakeholders
  • Provide advice to various internal stakeholders on compliance with financial controls, accounting standards, and other reporting requirements.
  • Co-ordinate the asset revaluations and prepare the reconciliations for Fixed Assets and leases
  • Assist with coordination and reconciliation of Intra health transactions on a monthly basis in line with guidelines issued by the Ministry.
  • Manage financial analysis / review and where required, perform other financial functions and reporting submissions to meet internal requirements, and also external statutory requirements.


About you 

We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:

  • Full membership of CPA Australia or CA ANZ
  • Knowledge of Government Sector Finance Act 2018 and Australian Accounting Standards
  • Experience in provision of high level financial reporting to senior management and external stakeholders
