Where you'll be working
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. What you'll be doing
This position is to work as an EEG technician within the Clinical Neurophysiology Unit in the Department of Neurology, Prince of Wales Hospital. The position is part of a Shared Service between the Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney Children's Hospital. Patients of all ages are studied, with investigations in the Unit as well as on the wards, in the operating theatres and Intensive Care, if required. A full range of clinical neurophysiological diagnostic services is provided. The Unit is actively involved in both training and research.
- Diploma in Clinical Neurophysiology from RMIT or equivalent or a relevant qualification.
- Demonstrated ability to record high quality electrophysiological investigations in a clinical environment, with variable levels of supervision, in a manner safe to themselves and their patients.
- Willingness to undertake in-service or other training to acquire new skills relevant to the position.
- Ability to work with computer-based equipment and common software packages..
- High levels of interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with both clinical and non-clinical staff and the public.
Ability to provide a written provisional report of investigations, including reliably recognising findings that are outside the range of normal.
