A great opportunity exists to join the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) Nutrition & Dietetics Department in the role of Nutrition & Dietetics Unit Head – Shoalhaven Hospital Group. This is an exciting time to join the team with the Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital redevelopment planned to open in July 2026.

 

The position operationally manages the dietitians at Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital, David Berry Hospital and Milton Ulladulla Hospitals as well as dietitians working with Shoalhaven Cancer Care Centre and Shoalhaven Transitional Aged Care Service.

 

The position is based at and includes a clinical caseload at Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital. Some travel is required across sites in the Shoalhaven Hospital Group and some meeting attendance at other sites in the Illawarra. We are seeking a Dietitian with experience in operational & clinical management of a team or looking to develop their leadership skills. The preferred candidate will have recent and relevant clinical experience to lead a team of Dietitians across a range of settings. The position has operational responsibility for Dietitians working within a range of regional acute, sub-acute and community settings.

 

The Unit Head reports to the Director of Nutrition and Dietetics and works closely with the ISLHD Nutrition & Dietetics management & leadership team to deliver high quality clinical dietetic services.

Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital is the main referral hospital for the Shoalhaven region, providing emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services. The hospital has an Intensive Care Unit focusing on high dependency and coronary patients, Children’s Ward and Maternity Unit, as well as a purpose-built regional Cancer Care Centre.

 

The hospital is currently undergoing a significant $440M redevelopment that will redefine how healthcare is delivered within the Region. This is a temporary parental leave relief position until 27 June 2027 with the possibility of an extension at same or reduced hours.
