The Oral Health Service is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced dental officer to join our multidisciplinary team. Clinicians at this level are competent practitioners with at least two years clinical experience. They must be able to exercise independent professional judgement on routine clinical matters and provide guidance to their team members. 

The successful applicant will deliver high quality clinical services, including oral health education, to eligible clients across two small dental clinics. The clinics are located within the La Perouse Community Centre, and Mission Australia building in Surry Hills. The successful applicant will be able to access level 1 management allowance, as this position carries a supervisory role managing small a team across few sites.

To deliver high quality oral health clinical services, including oral health education, to eligible clients in South Eastern Sydney Local Health District. Clinicians at this level are competent and independent, have at least 2 years clinical experience and work under minimal professional supervision, exercising independent professional judgement on routine clinical matters.

  1. Current registration as a Dentist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. A minimum of two years post-graduate experience in the practice of dentistry and a demonstrated ability to exercise independent professional judgment.
  3. Successful completion of the Dental Officers Skills Assessment set by the Centre for Oral Health Strategy. This applies to Dental Officers progressing from Level 1 to Level 2.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with a range of individuals including the general public.
  5. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to a preventive / population health approach to patient care.
  6. Willingness to participate in quality improvement activities and participate in clinical research activities as required.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development.
  8. Ability and willingness to travel for work purposes within SESLHD.
