About the role:

Step into a meaningful and highly valued position as a Clinical Support Officer (CSO) within the Palliative Care Unit, where your contribution is central to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care. In this integral role, you will provide seamless administrative and ward-based support, ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the service while fostering a calm, professional, and supportive environment for patients, families, and staff alike.

You will take ownership of essential patient administration processes, including coordinating admissions, discharges, and transfers, while maintaining accurate and timely records across electronic systems. Your ability to support patient flow and facilitate effective communication at the frontline will be key, as you act as a vital link between clinical teams, patients, and visitors. Working closely with nursing and multidisciplinary teams, you will also assist with a range of non-clinical tasks that contribute to the overall quality and continuity of care. This role reports directly to the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), ensuring strong leadership and guidance.

To succeed, you will bring demonstrated experience in an administrative or clerical role, along with strong computer literacy across Microsoft Office and electronic record systems. You will understand the importance of confidentiality and professionalism within a healthcare setting, and approach your work with sensitivity, particularly within a palliative care environment. While prior experience in a hospital setting, knowledge of patient administration systems such as eMR, or familiarity with palliative care is advantageous, these capabilities can be further developed on the job.

In return, you will be supported through a comprehensive onboarding experience, including a structured orientation to the ward and hospital systems, hands-on training in patient administration processes, and ongoing mentorship from the Nurse Unit Manager and a collaborative multidisciplinary team. You will also have access to a range of internal education and professional development opportunities, enabling you to grow and thrive within a rewarding healthcare career.
