Be part of the Rehabilitation team of the Greater Newcastle Mental Health Service, which operates across the James Fletcher Hospital site, Charlestown, Nelson Bay, and Raymond Terrace. About the role:
In this position, you will provide high-quality clinical psychological services to adults with complex mental health needs who are engaged in rehabilitation and recovery-focused care. This includes individual assessments, formulation, therapy, and collaboration with families and other service providers to support clients in achieving meaningful goals.
A typical week in this role includes:
- Providing individual and group-based psychological interventions
- Contributing to multidisciplinary team care planning and review
- Supporting clients in functional recovery, relapse prevention, and community reintegration
- Liaising with families, carers, and external agencies
- Documenting care in line with best practice standards and legislative requirements

About you:
We are looking for a skilled, motivated mental health professional who:
- Is a Clinical Psychologist or currently completing an accredited postgraduate program in Clinical Psychology
- Has experience working in mental health settings, particularly with adults experiencing complex mental health issues
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and evidence-based practice
- Can work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- Has excellent interpersonal, organisational, and documentation skills
- Brings a compassionate, client-centred approach to care
Requirements:
- Registration with AHPRA as a Clinical Psychologist or provisional registration while undertaking an accredited postgraduate Clinical Psychology program
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel to other service locations if required
- A strong understanding of the Mental Health Act, clinical risk management, and ethical practice in mental health settings
