The Role

The primary purpose of this position is to improve the health and wellbeing of women living in SESLHD, with a particular focus on priority populations who experience inequities in relation to access to health services and health outcomes.  
  
The Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2) position works in a small Women’s Health Team, within the Priority Populations Unit of the Population and Community Health Directorate. The CNS2 provides culturally respectful and responsive clinical care and advice to patients with complex health care needs relating to women's health. 
  
The CNS2 is a clinical expert who, through leadership facilitates excellence in research based clinical practice, education and professional leadership. 
  
The CNS2 provides targeted clinical services to women who are experiencing disadvantage and supports referral to and engagement with services for their ongoing care. The position assists women to develop sustainable links with primary health care that supports positive long-term health and wellbeing outcomes. 
  
The CNS2 delivers clinical services in primary and outreach settings across SESLHD, to support engagement with identified target populations. This involves local needs assessment, partnership building, service promotion and service delivery follow up. 
  
The CNS2 also works with internal and external partners to deliver a range of health education, health promotion and service capacity building projects and initiatives.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Registered Nurse with Authority to Practice with AHPRA with post graduate qualifications in Women’s Health or Family Planning (Reproductive and Sexual Health Graduate Clinical Accreditation Program) or similar.
  2. Demonstrated advanced clinical skills with at least three years’ recent experience in women’s health or related field with a focus on the provision of clinical services to women who are experiencing barriers to accessing and engaging with health services.
  3. Demonstrated ability to exercise extended autonomy of decision making and apply professional and ethical boundaries when managing complex care and service delivery issues.
  4. Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of contemporary women's health issues, including impact of social determinants of health on health outcomes of women and demonstrated application of effective strategies to support women’s access to and engagement with health services.
  5. Demonstrated skills in developing and conducting health education sessions and providing clinical training.
  6. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
  7. Demonstrated competence in the use of health-related information technology.
  8. Current valid driver's licence and the ability to work across various locations within the boundaries of SESLHD.
