Nepean Hospital is seeking an experienced and passionate Clinical Nurse Consultant – Blood & Blood Products to provide expert leadership in transfusion practice and patient blood management. In this specialist role, you will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to promote the safe, appropriate, and evidence based use of blood and blood products, while supporting high quality patient outcomes across the organisation.
The successful applicant will lead education, clinical governance, quality improvement, and audit activities related to transfusion services, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and policies. What you will bring to the role
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Minimum five years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least three years full time equivalent Acute Care experience and post graduate qualifications in a related specialty field or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
- Knowledge of VTE prevention strategies, transfusion safety issues and current Australian Transfusion Standards and Guidelines.
- Demonstrated Clinical Leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in Nursing/Midwifery practice.
- Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation, review and redevelopment of policy, procedures and education programmes.
- Demonstrated involvement in the development/change of clinical practice underpinned by evidence-based research.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning.
