About the Opportunity
Are you a detail-oriented Clinical Coder with a passion for accuracy and healthcare data integrity? Bankstown Hospital is seeking a skilled professional to join our dynamic Health Information team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the timely and precise coding of inpatient episodes using ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS standards. Your expertise will help ensure the quality of clinical documentation and support critical hospital reporting and funding processes.
As a Clinical Coder, you’ll collaborate closely with clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to clarify documentation and enhance coding accuracy. You’ll also contribute to audits, participate in education sessions, and support continuous improvement initiatives. What You'll be Doing
The Clinical Coder is responsible for the timely and accurate coding of inpatient episodes of care.

Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital is located in the city of Bankstown and is in one of the most multicultural local government areas (LGA) in Australia. This hospital has tertiary affiliations with three universities and offers a range of roles and experiences to employees.

- Completion of a recognised coding course or tertiary qualification in Health Information Management.
- Demonstrated experience using ICD-10-AM/ ACHI classification with knowledge of current Australian Coding Standards
- Demonstrated experience using Patient Administration Systems and other electronic medical record systems.
- Demonstrated experience using the 3M Codefinder.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and proven ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Understanding of Diagnosis Related Groups as per activity based funding principles and their application within the health system.
